Than ai, Hiền Nguyễn hienn_dial13@yahoo.com Dear Friends of GVA, It has been eleven years since the original launch of Đối Diện / Face to Face magazine, the literary voice of LGBT Vietnamese people living abroad (Việt kiều). The paths of Vietnamese refugees all over the world led them to adapting to life with new experiences and meanings, freedoms and struggles. The art and writing of Đối Diện documented these well, but over a decade later, our divergent experiences have led to an even greater wealth of art focused on broader and more intimate subjects. The Gay Vietnamese Alliance, as one of the original collaborators on that historical project, are breaking new ground with the release of GVArts, an intermedia website and publication. We are currently seeking submissions from gay Vietnamese artists and writers, by whatsoever definition of gay and Vietnamese suits you. Recent works, older works, private pieces, public pieces, local scope, public scope – we welcome all. We also welcome pieces from gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people. In addition, we are pleased to announce that we will award prizes for pieces that are deemed to be of high artistic quality in different categories. We will announce winners through our website and email list, and a number of pieces will be selected for publication in a new printed journal.
